Casa Grande Restuarant PDF  | Print |

Casa Grande restaurant in Visalia is where we ate last night. We had 6 people, a baby and a 3 year old toddler. The location of the restaurant is in a little shopping center easily missed from the street. A little competition from a oriental place next door but I'm sure this doesn't stop this place from getting its rent paid.

The people in Visalia generally really like this place. They specialize in Mexican cuisine but on the weekends do offer good ole' american style breakfast. They even have fried chicken on the dinner menu just in case you can't stand mexican food. lol

The salsa last night was terrible hot. I've never before been to a place where I could say that about the complementary chips and salsa. The folks I went with (and the neighboring table of 12) agreed that the salsa should have a label on it saying, "I dare you hot".. Cause it was practically on fire and I have an unusually high tolerance for spicy food. In a bigger city it might've even been a law suit waiting to happen.

The service was great. Despite the large table next to us, the waitress was able to handle our table promptly without us having to feel insignificant like some servers can sometimes do.

I had horchatta and the fish tacos. I really liked the fish tacos and was actually better than I had expected them to be. The horchatta though left me wishing it was from 7-11 instead. It was still good however. Our table had two orders of various Nachos.. Both plates looked absolutely delicious. My wife had the steak tacos.. The carne asada here is to die for. That being said, don't order the steak filets! They tend to be rubbery, expensive and require extra A1 sauce.

Overall we enjoyed our meal immensely.

Site Delays PDF  | Print |
Tuesday, 08 June 2010 10:39

There's a reason delay of progression concerning the site. Updates are hard to make when you live on the other side of the country you know.

This will change soon enough. I hope to be in Visalia starting in August. Hope to be settled very shortly after that and I'll start up again. This time I'll hopefully have the edge of actually being there to accompany whatever I write.

There's another site out there that has recently purchased its domain name rights. visaliabuzzword.com which found its roots from mwbuzzword.com will also shed insight to the whole 'being in visalia' vibe.

Together, I hope that we can provide a space in cyberspace that will reflect what life is like in Tulare county and shed a little light on the finer destinations one 'must visit'. Although reluntant, the bad as well.

Stay tuned for the road trip is inevitable. Just have to wait for the baby to get here and our current lease to run its course and we're off! I don't think we are going to wait for the lease to run out. We may leave a couple of weeks before hand actually.

The Walmart Rumors PDF  | Print |
Saturday, 15 May 2010 22:44

Thumbnail imageAre they true? You know the ones.. The rumor that Walmart plans on expanding to the point of being a super grocery store. They already have been going through some major changes it seems, and as they renovate, they implicate to the customers that they plan on converting to a Superwalmart at some point.

Several people have reported that they have had petitions presented to them asking them to sign in favor of the new changes. Many have already signed it.

Opposer's are concerned for the well being of the already existing grocers in the city. They fear Walmart will consume the market forcing the little guys out of business. Many think that this type of thinking inhibits healthy competition while others believe that there are enough customers loyal to their local grocer, that Walmart, will have little to no effect on these companies.

So Here We Are PDF  | Print |

Although there's not a video feed, this site is still rather snazzy. I've combined some of the internet's latest technology into it believe it or not. The video thing I've actually thought of and decided I might make some kind of widget that will allow visitors to insert videos into a displayable rss stream.

Now for the actual meat and bones of a good website.  Despite the rather neat real-time twitter feed and ajax utilizing news feed from various news sources tunneled into one, this page still lacks an author to publish articles relevant to the theme. I've thought about making simple reviews of companies that

Things to still do with this:

  • Give it its own site
  • *No Money Yet for new domain*
  • fix twitter feed to have links in own window
  • *DONE*!
  • picture slider tidbits need refining.
  • *DONE!*
  • And of course, articles and content
  • *Any Volunteers?*
