| Casa Grande restaurant in Visalia is where we ate last night. We had 6 people, a baby and a 3 year old toddler. The location of the restaurant is in a little shopping center easily missed from the street. A little competition from a oriental place next door but I'm sure this doesn't stop this place from getting its rent paid. The people in Visalia generally really like this place. They specialize in Mexican cuisine but on the weekends do offer good ole' american style breakfast. They even have fried chicken on the dinner menu just in case you can't stand mexican food. lol The salsa last night was terrible hot. I've never before been to a place where I could say that about the complementary chips and salsa. The folks I went with (and the neighboring table of 12) agreed that the salsa should have a label on it saying, "I dare you hot".. Cause it was practically on fire and I have an unusually high tolerance for spicy food. In a bigger city it might've even been a law suit waiting to happen. The service was great. Despite the large table next to us, the waitress was able to handle our table promptly without us having to feel insignificant like some servers can sometimes do. I had horchatta and the fish tacos. I really liked the fish tacos and was actually better than I had expected them to be. The horchatta though left me wishing it was from 7-11 instead. It was still good however. Our table had two orders of various Nachos.. Both plates looked absolutely delicious. My wife had the steak tacos.. The carne asada here is to die for. That being said, don't order the steak filets! They tend to be rubbery, expensive and require extra A1 sauce. Overall we enjoyed our meal immensely. *note, author is extremely opinionated and unafraid to post negative criticism in the interests of his true, unbiased opinion of things... |
